Start with the barriers. Build on strengths.

Learners do not all take the same route to understanding. We propose practical support for noticing barriers, offering flexible ways to engage and making everyday materials easier to use.

01

Flexible learning activities

Explore different ways to present a task, support participation and let learners show understanding.

02

Accessible resources

Improve clarity through readable layouts, plain instructions, appropriate contrast and alternative formats where feasible.

03

Respectful participation

Consider classroom routines and communication that help learners contribute without being singled out.

What the project could include

Activities would be shaped with teachers and adapted to local needs.

01

Resource adaptation sessions

Rework sample worksheets and lesson materials with accessibility and clarity in mind.

02

Classroom scenario discussions

Explore possible adaptations for varied learning needs while recognising when specialist guidance is required.

03

Teacher exchange

Share practical ideas and reflect on how an approach may need to change across contexts.

These are proposals for discussion. Funding, partners, trainers, locations, dates and participant arrangements are not confirmed. Any delivery would depend on needs assessment, resources and appropriate safeguarding.

How we would review its usefulness

Listening and practical feedback would guide the next steps.

01

Fewer avoidable barriers

Review adapted materials against clear, practical accessibility criteria.

02

More flexible choices

Look for meaningful alternatives in how a learner accesses a task or responds.

03

Context-sensitive feedback

Ask teachers about feasibility and listen to learner feedback where appropriate and safely arranged.

Help us understand what inclusion needs in practice.

Tell us about the barriers teachers face and the resources that could help. This proposal concerns educational practice; it does not provide diagnosis or replace specialist support.
